Farm Walks


On Sunday the 9th September 2012 by kind invitation of the Wilson Family around 70 North West Club members, family and friends enjoyed a day out at the home of the New Close Herd of Pedigree British Blues in Hollington, Tean, Stoke-on-Trent. [report]
On the 19th October 2011, members and friends visited the IAE company who are very well known in the agricultural industry with many of us using their products on a daily basis. [report]
On Thursday 21st July 2011 North West Club members were pleased to join with the Boland Farmers Group and representatives of Carrs Billington Agriculture to spend an evening visiting the Norbreck Herd at home in Cockerham, Lancashire, by kind invitation of the Halhead family. [report]
On Sunday the 8th May 2011 around 125 visitors enjoyed a farm walk with Adam Neachell’s herd of Pedigree British Blue Cattle at Shrubbery Farm, Aldridge, Staffordshire. [report]
On the 3rd October 2010 North West Club members were invited to spend the day at Tim and Sara Mountford’s Wetmoor farm in Hartley Green, Gayton, Staffordshire. [more]
The North West Club members, families and friends were privileged to be invited to a farm walk with the Hartley Family’s Pendle Herd and the Walker Family’s Brennand herd on the 1st August 2010. [more]
About 20 members and friends joined us for a farm walk at the Paulern Herd in Gloucestershire to meet Ernie Hemmings’ cattle.  [report]
A small group of enthusiastic North West members descended upon Inglewood Edge Farm in Cumbria on Sunday 25th September 2005, the home of the renowned beef and sheep breeder, John Hall and family. [report]
North West club members enjoyed a visit to the Hazelwood herd of Doug and Sheila Hazel at their Chalton home on October 9th 2004. [report]
A farm walk on the 29th August 2004 at the home of Allan and Deirdre Wilkinson’s Springfield herd and at Keith and Linda Wilkinson’s commercial herd was enjoyed by North West club members and our friends from the Borders and Wales clubs who accepted the invitation to join us. [report]

British Blue Breeders and Finishers enjoyed a flying trade for their Stock at the inaugural British Blue Bonanza. [report]
North West Club members enjoyed an outstanding trade at the Border’s Club Show and Sale on the 16th & 17th May 2008. [report]
Many North West Club members were amply rewarded with their forbearance of the restrictions that cancelled the autumn sale last September and taking advantage of the vector free period had their cattle ‘bluetongue tested’ so that they could travel anywhere outside the surveillance zones. [report]
Nine North West Club members enjoyed a buoyant trade at the Borders Club Show and Sale at Carlisle on 18th & 19th May 2007. [report]
The Society Sale on Wednesday 27th September 2006 at Borderway Mart, Carlisle saw only three North West Club members offering cattle for sale. [report]
At the Society Sale on Saturday 2nd September 2006 at Chelford Agricultural Centre the North West Club members encountered a very tentative audience of buyers. [report]
Saturday the 6th May 2006 was a bittersweet day for the dispersal sale of the Hazelwood Herd of Doug and Sheila Hazel. [report]
Two leading bids of 10,000 guineas, and a bid of 8,700 guineas for an 8-month old heifer were the highlights of an outstanding sale at Chelford on Saturday 15th October for three of the country’s leading breeders of British Belgian Blue cattle. [report]
The North West members who entered stock into the Society Show and Sale on the 21st and 22nd May 2005 at Carlisle added top quality cattle in addition to those already on display. [more]

Whilst buyers broke the sale price record at Chelford on the 5th March 2005 by bidding Balleygrange Vinney to 11,600gns, North West members recorded a not insignificant occasion themselves. [more]


The Border Club Spring Sale on14th & 15th May 2004 was very much enjoyed by both vendors and buyers of the North West Club and we would like to extend our thanks to “the Borders’ and H&H for their kind and as always very entertaining hospitality. [photos]

Shows


The North West Club hosted a stand at the English Winter Fair on the 17th and 18th November 2012 and held a competition in aid of the North West Air Ambulance Charity. [report]


The North West Club held their annual open calf show at Chelford on 1st September 2012 [report]
At the Cheshire County Show Graymar Electra exhibited by Matthew Jones was awarded the Breed Championship and Exhibitor Bred Championship in the Blue Classes and the Interbreed Exhibitor Bred Championship and the Reserve Interbreed Championship on her first outing into the show ring in 2012. [report]

Forty-six calves from sixteen individual herds were entered in the classes for homebred calves 12 months of age and under. [report]

The Pendle herd of Mark and Elaine Hartley along with Isabella and Thomas was awarded many of the honours by judge Ernie Hemmings at the Border Club’s calf show on the 20th February 2008. [report]


North West Club members ‘lucky’ enough to be inside the Bluetongue Surveillance Zone were free to attend many of the prestigious agricultural shows this season.[report]


Stafford County Show provides a flying start to the 2008 show year for North West Club members. [report]


Not a herd to stand on its laurels, the Belfield family fresh from taking the Exhibitor Bred Group title at Leek Show on the 28th July 2007 went on a few days later to Bakewell Show and captured the Interbreed Group title. [report]


At the Shropshire and West Midlands Show on the 23rd & 24th June 2007, the Group of Five Interbreed Championship saw yet another team of Blues take the title. [report]


Allan and Deirdre Wilkinson’s heifer Springfield Anastasia took the Supreme Championship at the Cheshire County Show on 19th June 2007. [report]


Belgian Blues scored an unprecedented ‘Triple Crown’ at the Stafford County Show on the 30th and 31st May 2007. [report]

The North West British Blue Cattle Breeders Club in conjunction with the Belgian Blue Society were very pleased to sponsor the prizes and rosettes at a show and sale of Belgian Blue crossbred dairy calves at the Gisburn Auction Mart on the 5th April 2007. [report]


The North West Club of the British Blue Cattle Society held a ‘baby blues’ day with two events at Chelford Agricultural Centre on Monday 5th February 2007. [report]


Isabella Hartley wins the Border Club Young Handler Class Championship for the second time in three years. [report]


The North West Club 2006 Open Winter calf show was held at The Chelford Agricultural Centre on Monday 6th February 2006. [report]


Boomer Witney a January 2004 heifer by Cubitus du pre Rosine out of Fabriole du 8376 SCY has made a sparkling start to this years showing season. [more]
At the 2005 Borders Club Calf Show the youngstock of the Pendle herd of Mark and Elaine Hartley and the Springfield herd of Allan and Deirdre Wilkinson scored very high achievements. [more]
The 2004 North West Members Calf Show found a new venue at The Nantwich & South Cheshire Show at Dorfold Hall Park and was incorporated into the main show on the 28th July 2004. [results & photos]
