Strong Demand and 100% Clearance at Balmoral

Richard Beattie, conducted the Inaugural Spring Balmoral Multi-breed Bull Sales on Saturday 28th February 2015.

There was a small entry of 'Blues' but with a top price of 4,000gns and a total clearance, there was a strong demand for the bulls that were forward.

Jack and Anne Morrison realised 4000 guineas for "Chatham Iain," sired by their stock bull Auchenlay Eli and out of Chatham Bea, who herself was a daughter of Railway View Hector. This all white bull, in the very top of the breed for calving ease, sold to Dean Wright, Portadown.

From the same home, selling at 3,100gns was the Reserve Champion from the show, Chatham Houston, this time sired by Paulern Verdi and out of another Hector daughter, Chatham Beryl. Houston boasts a carcase profitability index of + 21 (breed av. +11).

The Show Champion selling at 2,500gns, was Springhill Harp from Martin Bros. This November 2012 born black and white son of Kubitus de Bray and out of Springhill Cranberry, was Male Champion at the Royal Ulster Show.
