Glasswater Robert wins for Michael McClements

Crossgar, Co Down breeder Michael McClements took the Overall and Male Championship at the British Blue Cattle Club NI Calf show sponsored by HVS Animal Health, suppliers of Liquid Gold Chelated Mineral and Vitamin Drench.

Michael’s bull calf Glasswater Robert, Fabius Du Fond son out of Drumboy Montana, was born last December so competed in the senior bull class.

Youth to the fore as Grace Elwood, of sponsor HVS Animal Health, congratulates Joshua Arrell on taking the Reserve Championship and first in the junior heifer class.

Hosted by Dungannon Farmers’ Mart and judged by Shay Hayden from Co Wexford the event drew a strong entry with Joshua Arrell from Randalstown taking the female championship showing Artlone Star. An entry in the junior heifer class sired by Bedgebury Kent out of Solway View Oki Doki.

The senior heifer class first place was further good news for Newtownabbey based Jim Ervine and daughter Laura, who had a baby son in November and the family has also just won the Young Cup for Show Herd of the Year.

Their first in class heifer was Knockagh Reba sired by Springhill Kingkong out of Knockagh Lyric.

The overall results were as follows;

3. Chatham Rosco,  exhibited by Jack and Anne Morrison, Armoy

3. Halfway Roxie from George Mitchell, Dromore, Co Down

Junior Bull
1. Breezehill Starburst, shown by Isaac Ward,  Crumlin
