Mart Record £7,300 for British Blue Cross Heifer

A new mart record was set at Leyburn Mart Spring Spectacular on 8th March 2014, when a British Blue Cross Heifer – “She’s A Diamond” made £7,300.

Chosen by Aberdeenshire judge, Harry Emslie as his Supreme Champion, “She’s A Diamond” from noted suckled calf breeder, John Smith-Jackson, Haltwhistle, had previously been champion at Smithfield Calf Show and Borderway Agri Expo Baby Beef Champion. The successful purchaser was Robert Miller from Moneymore, Northern Ireland.

John Smith-Jackson receives a pair of cut glass whisky glasses, from the British Blue Cattle Society.

The WA Dinsdale & Son Partnership from Swaledale took the Champion British Blue Steer, selling for £1200 to David Sandham, Lincolnshire.

Ivanhoe Livestock, Bedale sold a Blue Heifer for £1600; Ken Hird & Sons, Swaledale, also sold a Blue Heifer for £1600.
