British Blues Champion & Reserve at Wigton

The Wigton Christmas Primestock Show produced a fantastic show of quality livestock, on Saturday 7th December.

Champion beast with (from the left) Two reps from Atkinson Ritson, Solicitors who sponsored the Champion, Judge Maurice Wharton , Owner George Harrison and Maureen Hodges who presented the trophies.

Judge Maurice Wharton of Wholesale Meats, Wigton had the unenviable task of selecting his champions and after much deliberation placed a wonderful British Blue Heifer from George Harrison, Howrigg Farm, Westnewton as Champion. This went on to sell to Local family and Master Butcher Stephen Wilson of Corby Hill, Carlisle for 350p per kilo and grossed £2180.50.

Reserve Champion was awarded to Messrs Sowerby, Terry’s Farm with another British Blue Heifer which realised 310p per kg and £1763.90 to the same buyer.
