Ballygrange Vinney, a four year old bull by Woodview Solo out of Ballygrange Roxy, took the Male Championship and Overall Breed Champion under judge Michelle Wilde on Wednesday the first day of the show.

Bred by Jim Sloan and purchased at the Society Show and Sale in Chelford during March 2005 by Alan Wheelwright he was awarded the Supreme Beef Championship by judge Mr D Bell of Kenilworth on the second day and when later accompanied by Jane and Danny Wyllie’s three year old cow Annanwater Vine, by Affute Du Ry Ossogne out of Ridge Dean Totty, Mr Bell awarded them the Interbreed Pairs red tickets.

Immediately following the pairs they were joined by Adam Neachell’s three-year-old cow Unanimite Des Cres Avermas, a Dansuer D’embise daughter out of Poupette Des Cras Avermas, and the same judge placed them at the top of the line in a very strongly contested Interbreed class.

It is the first time anyone on the Showground can remember the British Belgian Blue breed taking the interbreed ‘Triple Crown’.

In the breed classes other North West members in the ribbons, courtesy of the judge Michele Wilde, were the Jones family with their 14 month-old Junior bull Bringlee Banjo. Bringlee Banjo, the first son of Immense De Bearaing to enter the show ring was bought as a calf at the foot of his mother Bringlee Viv. He amply repaid their judgement by winning his class and going on to become Reserve Male Champion on his first time out.
