Calf Show 2004
The 2004 North West Members Calf Show found a new venue at The Nantwich & South
Cheshire Show at Dorfold Hall Park and was incorporated into the main show
on the 28th July 2004.
The venue was well supported for a first time with twenty-six entries over the
four classes. The majority of the exhibitors took the opportunity of making entries
into the Belgian Blue section of the main show.

The calf class in the main show was for a calf born in 2004 and exhibited
by a junior under sixteen years of age.
The February 2004 calf Bringlee Waldo (by Balto De Steibach out of Bringlee
Sandy) handled by Roger Bozon (his first time in the show ring) gained the
honours in this class and went on to become Reserve Inter-breed Beef Calf Champion
in the very strongly contested class in the main show.
The Inter-breed class was judged by a panel of the individual
judges of each breed at the show which makes Waldo and Roger’s
success all the more notable. Congratulations to Bringlee Waldo
and Roger oh! and of course Graham Brindley the breeder of Bringlee
Waldo. The calf has been greatly admired wherever he has accompanied
Bringlee Sandy throughout the summer.

The judge for the main Belgian Blue classes, Mr. Ben Newton
of Boston, Lincolnshire, was also gracious enough to judge the
North West calf classes.
He made the winner of Class 107 – Heifer calf born in 2003 – Astbury
Violet (by Gypse de Haute Somme out of Burton Opal) owned by Jim Barber, the
overall calf champion. He had also made her reserve Breed Champion in the main
show classes.
The winner of class 106 – Bull calf born in 2003 – Crackley Bank
Vimto (by Cubitos Du Pre Rosine out of Belldale Raquel) owned by Paul Walker,
was reserve overall calf champion.
