Calf Show 2003
BOOTHLOW HERD TRIUMPHS !
Following the success of last years video calf show it was decided to stay
with the same format for the winter show. Exhibitors once again rose to the
challenge and thirty-three calves were entered over six classes. All entries
were videoed on farm in a variety of ways, haltered, penned and free running
in an enclosed yard, whichever was most convenient to the exhibitor and a video
produced from the resulting film.
All who attended the showing were able to judge the classes and their marking
sheets, when totaled, gave the placings. The show was viewed at Jim Barber’s
Astbury Farm and once again our thanks go to Jim and Lisa for their unstinting
hospitality.
The North West Calf Show trophy was presented to Keith and Janet Belfield (Boothlow
herd) by our Chairman Danny Wyllie, for their Male and Supreme Champion bull
November 2002 born, Boothlow Uzo. Boothlow Uzo is by Radar out of a Gribouille
de la Bonnie Raie cow, Four Oaks Karina.
This triumph was in addition to their winning of the Champion Female with December
2002 born Boothlow Ultra by their home bred bull Boothlow Shadow out of a Bringlee
Freeman cow Boothlow Pinky. Shadow himself was out of Justesse.
New club members Jeff Walker and family were the top crossbred exhibitors winning
overall champion with their April 2003 born white heifer by Ridge Dean Theo.
