BBBCS North West Club

Carlisle Spring Sale 2005

North West Club breeders enjoy record sale at Carlisle

Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd May 2005

The North West members who entered stock into the Society Show and Sale on the 21st and 22nd May 2005 at Carlisle added top quality cattle in addition to those already on display.

The record price paid for the October 2003 born Auchenlay Vagabond stands on its own but north west member Graham Brindley would on a ‘normal’ day have every right to expect that his June 2003 born young bull Bringlee Volkawagon by Baron du Bois Bauloye out of Bringlee Sandy, sold previous to the Champion at 11,500gns, would be the top price achieved.

Bringlee Sandy had an excellent showing year in 2004 being the reigning Female Champion at the Royal Show, Breed Champion at the Royal Welsh Show, reserve breed Champion at Beef EXPO and Interbreed Champion at Anglesey. This exceptional cow is amongst the highest recorded female EBVs in the country.

Bringlee Volkawagon has been jointly purchased by Netherwood Farms Ltd of Kirby Lonsdale who will be using him on both Pedigree Belgian Blue cows and Limousin suckler cows and North West member Philip Halhead’s company Norbreck Genetics who have purchased a share in this high EBV bull as part of an £150,000 investment programme to sell semen from high genetic merit bulls.

Graham also sold Bringlee Valdemar who is also a June 2003 bull and a full brother to Volkawagon and a March 2000 cow Bringlee Sal Sal a Sceptre de Bomal daughter out of his homebred Bringlee Mindy. Sal Sal had her February 2005 heifer calf Bringlee Amber at foot. Amber is one of Bringlee Talbot’s first calves on the ground.

Keith and Janet Belfield sold their May 2003 bulls Boothlow Veron and Boothlow Verduca, both being Affute Du Ry Ossogne sons out of homebred cow Boothlow Rachel. They thought so much of a Radar Van Terbeck son, Boothlow Uno (d.o.b. 28.11.02) they withdrew him out of the ring and later sold him out of the pens to the satisfaction of both vendor and buyer.

Valley was Breed Champion at the Great Eccleston Show. They also sold the May 2003 bull Pendle Viva by Stowbeck Storm out of their home bred cow Pendle Robinea.
