North West Club Members enjoy a Bumper Sale at Carlisle

Nine North West Club members enjoyed a buoyant trade at the Borders Club Show and Sale at Carlisle on 18th & 19th May 2007.

Top price on the day for the North West went to Jim Barber’s Astbury Alex, placed second in his senior bull class and going on to take the Reserve Senior Bull Championship, this virtually all black 28 month-old son of Sceptre De Bomal out of the extremely successful show cow Astbury Trudi sold for 11,000gns. Jim also sold for 3,500gns Astbury Artic a 19 month-old son of Brulot De Somme out of Souplesse De Roupage.

Allan & Deirdre Wilkinson also had a rewarding day with Springfield Amos, a 26 month-old don of Dafydd D’Ochain out of naturally calving Springfield Pepsie, having been placed first in his class and selling for 8,500gns. Another Dafydd son, 29 month-old Springfield Ambrose out of the famous Ovatie Van De Wolvendreef sold for 6,200gns and a Dafydd daughter, 13 month-old Springfield Betsy out of Springfield Vicieuse sold for 2,200gns. A 14 moth-old daughter Springfield Belle, by Nonours De Wihogne out of Springfield Virginia sold for 3,500gns.

Keith and Janet Belfield sold two Affute Du Ry Ossogne sons, 22 month-old Boothlow Allan out of Boothlow Rachel was knocked down for 7,500gns and 23 month-old Boothlow Archie out of Boothlow Smartie achieved 6,100gns. A third bull that they offered for sale was Boothlow Whopper and this 33month-old Baron Du Bois Bauloye son out of Boothlow Orchid was sold for 3,800gns.

Mark and Elaine Hartley sold five bulls and three heifers from their Pendle herd. Three of the bulls were by their stock bull Blue Stone Union Jack. 18 month-old Pendle Aaron, placed first in his class on the previous day, out of Pendle Rose, 22 month-old Pendle Allblack out of Wold Newton Veil and 26 month-old Pendle Aztec out of Pendle Tulip sold for 5,00gns, 4,500gns and 3,00gns respectively. Two 21 month-old sons of Dafydd D’Ochain, Pendle Acer and Admiral, both out of Tamhorn Ursa sold for 3,900gns and 3,000gns respectively. Two Union Jack daughters out of Pendle Rose, 15 month-old Boo La La sold for 3,900gns and 18 month-old All Spice for 2,800gns, However, a third daughter Pendle Apanda was withdrawn form the ring by Mark and Elaine at 4,200gns and returned home.

Roger and Boomer Birch sold Boomer Aquascutum for 4,800gns. This 28 month-old son of Bringlee Talbot out of Cerise Neuve Cour had been placed Champion Senior bull on the previous day.

Philip Halhead sold a 23 month-old Dafydd D’Ochain son, Norbreck Atlantic out of Tamhorn Ursa, for 3,500gns.

Paul Walker sold a 28 month-old Sceptre De Bomal son, Crackley Bank Action Man out of Greenacres Kathy for 3,600gns.

Geoff Walker’s 28 month-old bull Brennand Avalanche out of Brennand Una sold for 3,000gns.

Jane and Danny Wyllie brought two daughters of Affute Du Ry Ossogne, 23 month-old Tamhorn Anya out of Vina Van De Wolvendreef selling for 3,500gns and 18 month-old Tamhorn Alexandrina out of Leverhulme Nimbus selling for 2,300gns. Two 11 month-old daughters of Vigor Du Grand Courty out of their show cow Annanwater Vine also went under the hammer, Tamhorn Bonnie and Tamhorn Betsy, selling for 2,800gns and 2,200gns respectively.

Gavin Boocock sold Edmonds Aragon a 20 month-old son of Danseur D’Embise out of Wilodge Virtuous for 2000gns.

The show placings combined with the selling prices could possibly have made this the most successful show and sale ever for these North West Club members.
