Chelford Autumn Sale 2006

1st & 2nd SEPTEMBER 2006

At the Society Sale on Saturday 2nd September 2006 at Chelford Agricultural Centre the North West Club members encountered a very tentative audience of buyers.

Best of the day for the North West was Jane and Danny Wyllie’s 23 months old bull Tamhorn Windsor a Minister Du Bouchelt son out of Fantasie de Miecreit selling for 2,600gns. They also offered for sale two ten months old commercial heifers by their homebred bull Tamhorn Vic. Having been awarded the commercial championship the previous evening one of the heifers was purchased by the judge Jim Hollingsworth for £1800.

At the dinner on the Friday evening Jim Hollingsworth had explained that he had, when judging, taken into account of how he felt that the cattle put before him would fair at the Primestock shows later in the year. The champion being described as top class in every way, it will be interesting to see how events unfold.

Allan and Deirdre Wilkinson sold their two years old bull Springfield Windsor by Galopuer Des Hayons out of Damelia Van De Wolvendre whom is full brother to their show cow Ovatie.

The young sons of Keith and Janet Belfield, Tom and Jack, well experienced on the summer show circuit, made what is believed to be their first solo foray into the world of show and sales. They led their seven months old heifer Boothlow Beauty, an Affute Du Ry Ossogne daughter out of their homebred cow Boothlow Ultra, into fifth place in her class. Tom handling her in the ring on sale day and Jack overseeing proceedings in the auctioneers box, both looked very pleased to see spirited bidding resulting in this very feminine youngster being knocked down at 1700gns.
