Primestock Show and Sale

On Monday 30th April 2007 the Border Belgian Blue Club held their Twelfth
Annual Open Primestock show and sale, which was kindly sponsored by Macmin
Limted, Animal Feed Supplements, Rickerby, Borderway Insurance Brokers & J
Stobart & Sons Ltd, Newlands Quality Farm Foods.
The sale was held in conjunction with the weekly primestock sale at
Borderway Mart, Carlisle, when they had 27 head entered, comprising 7
steers, 6 heifers, 9 cross young bulls, 4 cast cows and 1 pedigree young
bull.
Mr Gavin Little, The Butcher, The Arcade, Penrith carried out the judging.
He commented that there was an excellent show of cattle throughout and
up to the usual high standard.

Gavin awarded the Championship to a heifer (688 kilos), shown by J Crichton,
Loughrigg, Egremont which later changed hands at 154.5p (£1062.96)
to Mr Charles Kirkpatrick.

The reserve championship went to a steer (635 kilos) shown by Mr K D
Harryman, Keskadale, Newlands Valley, Keswick. He was purchased by Mr
Mike Atkinson for 139.5p (£885.83).
