The first sale of its kind in the United Kingdom, witnessed an exceptional
turn out of quality cattle, all bred by pedigree Limousin or Belgian
Blue Bulls and out of suckler cows.

They were complimented by an excellent ring full of buyers, many
of whom had travelled long distances, looking to aquire quality
stock and willing to pay a premium. The prices reflect this with
a staggering average of 150p/kg on the steers and 139p/kg on heifers,
to include all types.

The sale peaked with a Limousin x steer, sold by B Jones, Pentregwyn
to Colin Harris, Marsland, Torrington, North Devon for £950,
(260p/kg). Mr Jones also sold the top priced Belgian Blue steer,
to Colin Watts, Pytindu Farm, Brecon for £765, (475p/kg).
Both these purchasers were generously sponsored by ‘AgriLloyd’
with product.

Limousin steers reached 365p/kg
Belgian Blue heifers topped 303p/kg
Belgian Blue Steers topped at 241p/kg
Limousin heifers topped at 229.5p/kg
There was no distinction in the breeds and the auctioneer, Chris
Jones, from McCartneys commented “It is obvious, buyers of
quality stock are grateful for a sale such as this, where they can
choose from a yard ranging from small types on green cards, or strong
heifers and steers to finish or breed from, many of which have show
potential.’
