North West Club Members Celebrate Successes for Final Half Year of 2011 The first half of 2011 was something to celebrate for Club members but they could hardly have given thought to how much better things would become in the final shows and sales in 2011. Matthew Jones’s 23 months old heifer Graymar Electra, sired by Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur out of Bringlee Beth, continued her winning ways in style taking the Breed Championships at The Great Yorkshire Show, The Royal Welsh Show, The Nantwich and South Cheshire Show, The Burwarton Show, and the Oswestry Show. At the Oswestry show she was also awarded the female Interbreed Championship followed by the Supreme Interbreed Championship. At the Royal Welsh she was also Reserve Champion in the prestigious FitzHugh Interbreed Beef Pairs when joined by Drift Domino and a member of the Blues winning NatWest Interbreed Team of Five Championship that also included Boomer Birch’s Boomer Euphoria. At the Burwarton Show Electra was awarded the Reserve Interbreed Champion ticket. Adding to these her earlier success in the first half of the year at Shropshire, East of England and Cheshire County this totalled eight Breed Championships, five Interbreed Championships and two Reserve Interbreed Championships. For her first year on the show circuit this will take some beating in the future. Not to be overshadowed by Electra other Club members also had very successful shows in the second half of the year. At Newport Show on the 9th July Ian and Andrew Wilson’s 19 months old heifers New Close Fizzy and New Close Fantasia, took the Breed Pairs and Interbreed Pairs Championship. At the Leek Show on the 30th July, 19 moths old New Close Figaro was awarded the Reserve Breed Champion ticket. Both the heifers and the bull are from the same Colos Van Daisel/ New Close Cilla Black flush
The Nantwich and South Cheshire Show on the 27th July saw John Okell’s Birdswood Vision, a Baron Du Boise Bauloye daughter out of Birdswood Ruth, awarded Reserve Breed Champion. In the calf section Matthew Jones’s Graymar Gucci, a Bringlee Blackstar daughter out of Bringlee Viv, won the class with John Okell’s Birdswood Gabby, a Boothlow Batman daughter out of Birdswood Ruth standing second. Wyn Jones’s Tanat Ebony, a Bringlee Waldo daughter out of Bringlee Weelancee, and Tamhorn Enchanted, a Ballygrange Alex daughter out of Tamhorn Billy Jean, won the pairs class. Later in the day Graymar Gucci went on the become Reserve Supreme Beef Calf Champion. At the Bakewell Show on the 3rd August New Close Fizzy took the Heifer and Breed Championship with Keith and Janet Belfield’s 3 year old Boothlow Delboy, a Dafydd D’Ochain son out of Boothlow Rachel taking the Reserve Breed Champion ticket. Andrew’s daughter Molly took the first place rosette in the under 10’s Young Handlers class. The Burwarton Show on the 4th August saw Nigel Pritchard’s Norton Eddy, by Tamhorn Sumo out of Betws Wispa, take the Reserve Breed Championship. On the 20th August at the Ashbourne Show New Close Fantasia was awarded the Breed Championship.
Nigel Pritchard’s bull Norton Eddy a 28 months old Tamhorn Sumo son out of Betws Wispa was awarded the Reserve Male and Reserve Supreme Championship and sold later in the day for 4,800gns. Jane & Danny Wyllie sold two bulls both for 6,000gns, 19 months old Tamhorn Ferdinand an Empire D’Ochain son out of Tamhorn Tinkerbelle and 18 moths old Tamhorn Fagan a Ballygrange Alex son out of Tamhorn Wisteria. Ian and Andrew Wilson sold two bulls 29 months old New Close Eurostar a Bringlee Blackstar son out of Lukeroyal Wish for 4,100gns and 22 months old New Close Figaro a Colos Van Daisel son out of New Close Cilla Black for 3,800gns Boomer Birch sold 5 months old Boomer Gamani a Gamin Des 3 Frontieres daughter out of Boomer Armani at the foot of her recipient dam for 2,000gns.
At Agri-Expo in Carlisle on the 30th October Adam Neachell’s calf Cromwell Gia a 9 months old daughter of Adam’s stock bull Bringlee Carlos out of Cromwell Duchess was awarded the Supreme Champion Blue calf and along with herd companion Cromwell Goliath, an 8 months old son of Carlos out of Ridge Dean Rita, went on to take the Blue Pairs Championship as well.
