The Champion Calf was Beattie Bruno a 5 month old bull from Mike Scott
of
Besthorpe, Near Newark, Notts. This black and white bull was also the
best Calf under 6 months. Bruno was an April born calf out of Dundrod
Ure Lucky and by Black Du Baty D'Prave. He is a very correct bull calf
in both muscling and mobility. Mike says his growth rate has been quite
phenomenal, and intends for him to be a regular on the show circuit next
year.
Reserve Champion Calf came from Paul Barwood and Anita Padfield, from Norfolk, with Snow Queen a 9 month old crossbred heifer calf by Ermite De La Grande Rose.
Barwood and Padfeild also exhibited the Champion Pedigree over 10 months went to Ridge Dean Sherry 2. This cow has won 10 first prizes this season, including a first pize at the Royal Show and she has won 5 breed championships.
Reserve Champion in the pedigree section came from Nicola Beardsley from Ashbourne, Derbyshire with her 19 month old homebred heifer Woodlands Adorable. This heifer was calf champion at the show last year.
In the Crossbred section the Champion was awarded to W Hardy & Sons, from Lambley, Notts with their 24 month old heifer Lambley Lilly. She has been shown sucessfully all summer and her biggest success to date was Interbreed champion at Ashover show in August.
Reserve in this section also went to Whardy & Sons, with Lambley Lennie, a 20 month old belgian blue steer.
The always popular young handlers classes were won by Edward Dickens (Junior) & Kirsty Wilkinson (Senior)
