Leyburn Champion British Blue sells for £1400

Leyburn Auction Mart held their Store Cattle Show & Sale on Friday 5th February 2016. 

Forward: 165 Rearing Calves, 16 Dairy Cattle and 314 Store Cattle.

Wilkinson

The judge, Dave Hall from Malton put up as the Champion British Blue, a heifer shown by James & Luke Wilkinson of Leyburn and backed his decision by buying her for £1400.

James & Luke Wilkinson received a pair of Cut Glass Whiskey Glasses from the British Blue Cattle Society.

Reserve Blue was a steer from John Dixon & Sons, Stainton which made £1000.

Show for British Blue Rearing Calves

Only two names appeared on the prize list, Sowray Brothers from Bishop Thornton and David and Michael Smith from Keighley both regular sellers at Leyburn and both with excellent runs of calves in amongst many quality consignements.

Sowray’s took the Championship and Reserve with bull calves making £640 and £700 respectively to Vickers & Richardson, Scarborough.

2015 sale report
