£4,300 Mart Record for British Blue x Heifer at Hexham 20th Anniversary Show & Sale

19th August 2015

Hexham & Northern Marts celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the opening of their Tyne Green Auction Complex with a special prize show and sale of store cattle on 13th & 14th August 2015.

From an entry of Thirty Four catalogued show cattle Mr Harry Emslie awarded the Supreme Overall Championship Trophy, The J W Smith-Jackson Trophy and The Hodgson Toyota Rosebowl to the outstanding British Blue cross bred heifer from Nicky, Anne & Ian Robinson, Boghall, Capheaton.  The heifer was a very correct black and white example at ten months of age which had previously taken the British Blue Championship and the Blue Heifer class First Prize rosette.

Sired by the renowned "Valdes Van De Sluizenweg" himself an Osborne Van Terbeck son, she was undoubtedly the highlight of the show amongst a very high standard of cattle upon which many spectators remarked was the best show to be seen in the Tyne Green premises.  After spirited bidding, she finally sold for a new centre record price of £4300 to the judge Mr Emslie.

The Reserve Champion, a Limousin cross from J Sedgewick, came next into the ring and swiftly rose to the handsome figure of £2200 to be taken home by Mr Paul Brannen, Temple Sowerby, Cumbria.
