Kirkby Stephen Annual Prize Show and Sale of Suckled Calves


Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual prize show and sale of suckled calves and OTM cattle on Monday 1st November 2010 at Kirkby Stephen Mart where 521 head were catalogued.

A top quality show of Suckled calves turned out in fantastic condition were put on offer to a packed ringside of both local and far away purchasers. All classes of calves were very well bid for, which resulted in a excellent trade being achieved and vendors leaving the ringside very pleased with their trade.

A outstanding show of cattle were put out in the pre-sale show, which was very ably judged by Mr Andrew Scarborough, Driffield and was kindly sponsored by J G Animal Health, Dugdale Nutrition, Novartis Animal Health, North West Limousin Breeders Club, British Blue Cattle Society and SAI Global and Allflex Europe (UK) Ltd.

Mr Scarborough awarded his overall champion to a very classy 7 month old British Blue Heifer Calf consigned by Andrew and Mark Brown, Asby Hall which later went on to top the days sale at £1,750.

In overall reserve position was a very smart British Blue Bullock consigned by The Marston Family, Easegill Head, which went onto sell for £1,200
