Kirkby Stephen Annual Prize Show and Sale of Store Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Special Prize Show & Sale of store cattle at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Monday 30th April 2007 where an entry of 1,260 head together with 57 head of geld cows was presented to a huge company of buyers ringside.

Prices were on a high note, reflecting the tremendous quality of cattle the producers of this region being forward for sale. The following averages were recorded Bullocks to £1.550 average £599.89 (+£52.55) Heifers to £1,020 average £530.87 (+£38.41).

Judging was carried out by Mr J Hollingsworth, Mold, who awarded the supreme championship to a Belgian Blue Bullock from Messrs H R Hayton & Son, Asby Grange and later backed his judgment to purchase the animal at £1,550. The Border Belgian Blue Club kindly sponsored the classes for the Champion and Reserve Belgian Blue.
