British Blues sold to a top of 7,200gns at the Border British Blue Clubs 28th Annual Autumn Show & Sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 29th September 2017.

Top call came for the first bull through the ring and reserve male champion & reserve overall champion, Chalford Manor Knockout ET (Lot 51), a mainly black, 2 & half year old son of the Cromwell Fendt ET and Cromwell Diddup by Twyning Ash Vaughan flush. He was shown by D Plested, from Chinnor, Oxon and was knocked down to A Baillie, Low Glasnick Farm, Kirkcowan, Newton Stewart.

The Male & Supreme Champion Almeley Kasper (Lot 52) was next in the price ratings at 7,000gns. Kasper a white 29 month old bull was bred and exhibited by Graham Morgan, Cider Mill, Tillington, Herefordshire and is by their noted stock bull Drybarrows Cawdale and out of their homebred cow Ebony. Signing the cheque was J Hyslop & Sons, Netherton Farm, Abington, Biggar, Lanarkshire.

Also hitting the high spots was the third prize winning bull Brownridge Blues Knight Rider ET (Lot 59), a September 2015 son from the Henlli Wishmaster ET and College Valley Ellie ET flush. He was bred & exhibited by DJ & B Spours, Twizell Farm, Belford. Kasper found his new home with M Stevenson, Balcamie Farm, Dailly, Girvan, Ayrshire at 6,500gns. Dan also wins the Border British Blue Club Trophy for the highest price animal owned by a member of the Border Club.

Border Club Chairman, Ross Pattinson had a successful day when his single entry went through the sale ring and sold for 6,200gns to JD Yeats, Woodhouse Farm, Coanwood, Haltwhistle. Top Side Kupid (Lot 63) a 22 month old son of Naby Golddust ET and out of Stowbeck Edwina was 1st prize in his class.

Judge for the day, Brian Hall, Ainstable Hall put up as his Female Champion & winner of the Wilodge Perpetual Shield for the Best Animal Opposite Sex to the Champion, Willnant Lara ET(Lot 71) a July 2016 daughter of the Dafydd d’Ochain (IS) and Willnant Gina ET flush. She was bred and exhibited by Adrian Williams, Nantygeifr Farm, Llanidloes. Lara was knocked down for 5,000gns to an undisclosed buyer.

The Reserve Female Championship was awarded to a July 2016 heifer, Willnant Layla ET(Lot 70) out of a Bringlee Carlos (SR) ET and Droit Juliet ET flush, she was also bred and exhibited by Adrian Williams. She was knocked down for 3,000gns to Rodney Bros Plant Hire, Chapel Garth Farm, Harrogate, N Yorkshire.

Also on 3,000gns was the last lot of the day from Neil & Irene Armstrong, High Tarns Farm, Silloth, Wigton. Goodyhills Libby (Lot 72) a July 2016 daughter of Stonebyres Hartley and out of Goodyhills Bonnie. She stood 3rd in her class & was sold to Liam Yewdale, Atkinson’s Wood & Drummer Farm, Great Ayton, Cleveland
